Harry had told Teddy - okay, practically ordered him - to stay put once he and Ron and Hermione went to check on who was alive and who was dead. But the three little words that left his mouth - "Remus and Tonks" - made it pretty much a given that Teddy wasn't going to be following that order.
Once the trio left, Teddy turned to Al on the bed. "I need you to do me a big favor, buddy. I need you to promise me you'll stay right here. I'm going to put a ton of protective wards up, and I swear no one can get back in here but me. And I'll be back soon. So you can just go to sleep. Okay?"
He knew that Al was reluctant, but he agreed anyway, and Teddy was grateful for that. He waited for Al to settle into bed and then threw up every protective charm that he knew, including one that would alert him as soon as anyone else entered the room.
Then he left Gryffindor Tower, a familiar route that apparently hadn't changed much in twenty years. He had no idea what he was looking for, really. What was he supposed to do, stop random people and say, "Excuse me, but have you seen a werewolf and a metamorphmagus recently risen from the dead walking around anywhere?"
... but he didn't have to look long.
There they were, just in front of him. When he rounded a corner. He stared, his face going white. And in tradition of his inability to control himself, his hair went white as well. He just... stared, looking as if maybe he were about to fall over. They looked exactly like the picture he had of them, the one where they were holding him as a baby. Except... real.
If he'd been able to form words, he wouldn't have known what to say anyway.
